Orthotics
At A Touch Above Chiropractic we work with a foot specialist, otherwise know as a Chiropodist. We hold monthly orthotics clinics to help explain the benefits of orthotics and to determine if orthotics are right for our patients.
Most people don’t know that the average person takes 8,000 steps per day. That is a lot of pressure on your feet. Due to busy schedules, foot health has become an increasingly important part of our daily lives.
The Foot Bone’s Connected to the . . . Neck Bone?
Your feet are the foundation of your body. They support you when you stand, walk, or run. They help protect your spine, bones, and soft tissues from damaging stress as you move around. Your feet perform better when all their muscles, arches, and bones are in their ideal stable positions.
Your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body. Even a small abnormality in foot function can have a big impact on your other joints, causing pain and discomfort. When you are running, the pressure on your feet can be three or four times your body weight. Even walking can be tough on your feet. Discomfort and strain on your feet can lead to pain in other areas of the body, including your ankles, knees, hips, back, shoulders, and neck.
Help is Only Two Feet Away
Each individual’s feet interact differently with the ground, which affects the use of joints, muscles, and tendons in the foot. By stabilizing and balancing your feet, custom made orthotics enhance your body’s performance and efficiency, reduce pain, and contribute to your total body wellness.
Conducting a thorough biomechanical analysis and custom fitting will allow us to produce the ideal orthotics for you. Custom orthotics are biomechanical medical appliances that are made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Therefore, they are covered by most extended health insurance plans.
